WEEK 13

Great week here in Pachuca. Here are some highlights — - MIRACLE We had some really insane miracles this week. On Friday, we got a call from the Sisters that someone they were teaching needed a blessing. This woman couldn't really move (as in walk) or grip anything. She just stayed in bed by the front door all day. We got there and she can't move so we gave her a blessing in bed. I anointed and my comp blessed. After the blessing she grabbed a cup of water by her bed and started drinking. None of us realized she had movement back in her hand which was so cool. We stayed and talked for a while and then when we started walking out, she just got up and walked out with us. It was so cool that she could actually walk! - FOOD This week I had a lot of American food. I had a burger, hot dogs, 2 milkshakes, grilled cheese, fries and a ham, cheese & mayo sandwich. They were pretty good but none of them were anything special. I did learn thought that if you don't eat your meal wit...

WEEK 12

Well transfers happened today, but we were fortunately spared — so Elder Berquist and I will have six more weeks here in Tizayuca. It's gonna be lit. Here are some highlights from the week — - INDEPENDENCIA DAY This week was Independence Day for Mexico, but in Mexico, they celebrate most holidays all week so everyday there's been stuff going on. The actual Independence Day was Wednesday or Thursday last week (I can't remember), but we had a normal day until the ward party at night. The streets were so crowded which was really good cuz we got to talk to a lot of people. The ward party was supposed to start at 6 but Mexicans are always late so it didn't start until 8. We have to be in our house by 9:30 so we had to leave early. But while we were there, we got to do all of their patriotic stuff and watch the talent show. Most people did Mexican dances and then a few sang. But every night, people light fireworks off and pretty much no one works and just drinks all day. We t...

WEEK 11

The city's all blinged-out for Mexican Independence Day this week This past week officially marked one month in the mission field. Could not be better. Here are some of the highlights —  - THE FOOD The food this week has been SO good. But we didn't get fed by members once. My comp and I made all of our meals and they were so good. We had a lot of steak and eggs and burritos. Our mission president gave us steak last week (back when we had Covid), but we didn't realize it expired in two days...so the last day, we ate steak for all three meals. Breakfast was steak and eggs, lunch was steak, and dinner was breakfast burritos. While we were either eating or cooking, I destroyed 1 tie and 2 shirts so we bought aprons so that we wouldn't destroy anything else. Safe to say, we look good. Now I understand why all the moms wear them; they're so cool.  - CONTACTING Our contacting this week has been so good. We found ten new families, and I actually found three of them. Usually...

WEEK 10

I'm into double digit weeks now. This week was seriously a great one. Here are some memorable highlights — - COVID Yeah, I got Covid, but it was fantastic. I just lost my sense of taste and had a stuffy nose and sore throat. I felt sick on Tuesday and then on Friday at lunch, I realized I couldn't taste, so we finally called Sister Wright. She told us we had Covid and that we had to stay inside our apartment for 5-10 days. The next day they brought us literally 2 weeks worth of food so it's all good. But then, when they came to bring us food, they said if we felt good by Monday, we could come to their house. That meant we only had to stay inside for three days and we still got 2 weeks worth of food. Honestly it wasn't that bad staying inside. We played alot of indoor soccer, slept, cleaned and called a lot of people. We also got really good at cooking cuz whenever we were bored, we just cooked so I think I gained a good amount of weight. It was definitely a miracle that...
