WEEK 11

The city's all blinged-out for Mexican Independence Day this week

This past week officially marked one month in the mission field. Could not be better. Here are some of the highlights —

- THE FOOD
The food this week has been SO good. But we didn't get fed by members once. My comp and I made all of our meals and they were so good. We had a lot of steak and eggs and burritos. Our mission president gave us steak last week (back when we had Covid), but we didn't realize it expired in two days...so the last day, we ate steak for all three meals. Breakfast was steak and eggs, lunch was steak, and dinner was breakfast burritos. While we were either eating or cooking, I destroyed 1 tie and 2 shirts so we bought aprons so that we wouldn't destroy anything else. Safe to say, we look good. Now I understand why all the moms wear them; they're so cool.

- CONTACTING
Our contacting this week has been so good. We found ten new families, and I actually found three of them. Usually to contact, we either walk in the street, go into stores, or knock on doors. I found a family of three, a lady who was working at a cash register, and another family of four. They are all super interested. It's so cool cuz I never know what I'm going to say but the moment I start talking, words just come out. Sometimes I have no idea what I'm saying and half of the time, I don't know like a fourth of the words I say.

- LESSONS
Our lessons are super fun and the Spirit is always so strong. Usually my comp takes ¾ of the time and I talk ¼ of the time. We taught a family their first lesson — we taught every single principle cuz they were so interested. The lesson lasted 2½ hours. We also met with a family who has had some really sad things happen and so when we started teaching them, the mom just started bawling. We gave her a blessing. I think this week I've given 7 blessings, which was really cool. We also taught a man who is super cool. He had many cool experiences that changed him. Many of these people live in the poorest areas of Tizayuca, but for some reason, the poorest people always have the coolest houses.

- P-DAY
Today was super fun. My companion and I went to Pachuca to play soccer. It was all the zone leaders, the office elders, two other companionships and us. We played for two hours and by the end of it, we were dead. We played on an indoor field (the kind with walls), but it was outside. I was taller than everyone else so it was really fun. We ended up winning 10-8. Everyone that knows me knows I'm super inflexible so the moment I sat down after the game, my whole body cramped up — which kinda sucked. After, we went back to the church and had Little Caesar's pizza. The pizza here is weird cuz they don't put tomato sauce on it. They just give you the sauce and hot sauce on the side.

Hope your week was as good as mine!
