WEEK 73

This week was really good. Here are the highlights — - FRIDAY On Friday, we had a family history themed meeting for our stake. All of the missionaries came and I loved meeting all of the brand new missionaries that had arrived in our mission the day before. We got to sing a song from the movie, Coco, called El Latino de mi Corazon. We actually sounded a lot better than I thought cuz we only had like 15 minutes to practice before the meeting. And also, I got to be in a skit. We reenacted a video called Esperando esperando that's about a guy who dies and is in the spirit world. I was casted as one of the missionaries in the spirit world and I think I actually did well. Got to sign a few autographs after, so I felt pretty good. - P-DAY This p-day was super fun. Monday was also the celebration of the start of the civil war here in Mexico. Because it was a national holiday, schools were closed and they held a parade. There were probably 5 or 6000 people that came out. And as we were wal...

WEEK 72

This week wasn't anything super special. We just worked a bunch, but here are the highlights — - AMIGOS We have a few friends that are progressing a lot. We have our friend, Carlos, who is supposed to get baptized on the 28th, but we gotta get him and his girlfriend married and that usually takes a while, so we'll see how it works out. We also have a family that we are teaching. The dad is a less-active member. He and his girlfriend have three kids together. We are going to baptize 2 of the kids and his wife. But we also need them to get married so hopefully in December they will be getting baptized too. - CAMBIOS  We had transfers! But we didn't have any changes so I'll be with Elder Fuentes until he goes home on the 18th of December. Then I'll be put in a trio cuz our next transfers aren't until December 28th. Should be fun! And like half of our zone was changed so we will see how that goes. - SOCCER On Wednesday morning, we went with the other elders to play ...

WEEK 71

It was a big week here in Mexico. Here are the highlights — - DÍA DE LOS MUERTOS This past week was the Day of the Dead!! It was super cool to see how they celebrate it here! It's always on the 1st and 2nd of November. On the 1st, they honor the kids who have passed away, so they go trick-or-treating and party a bunch. I had intercambios during these days so I wasn't in the state of Hidalgo for the celebrations, I was in the state of Mexico. I don't know why, but the state of Mexico has no rules at all; pretty much, you can do whatever you want! During the night of the 1st, I have never seen such a crazy place! There were thousands of people walking everywhere. Just a mass of people. There were tons of people in costumes, but like usual, everyone was just staring at me — the tall white kid not in costume. I saw a bunch of people get their phones out to take pictures or videos, but then someone would walk by and snag their phones and then just get lost in the crowd. This hap...

WEEK 70

Alright, I pretty much forgot what happened last week, but here are a couple of highlights — - ZONE CONFERENCE Zone Conference was super good! I learned a bunch about how to be a better missionary and how to help more people. They focused a lot on the Atonement of Jesus Christ and that really helped me understand more about what a missionary is supposed to do. The zone conference was so long though, from like 10 am to 7 pm. By the end of it, I was tired of sitting down but I learned a lot. And we also got to munch on some tacos that were really good and then after, we got to eat pan de muertos. It's just a bread they eat to celebrate The Day of the Dead, but it's super good. Tastes like a cinnamon sugar bagel. - INTERCAMBIOS I also had intercambios with some elders. It was actually super cool cuz I got to go back to my first area. For lunch, we ate at Burger King, which tasted really good. I never tried it at home, but all of the Americans say it's way better in Mexico than...
