WEEK 61

These past couple of weeks have been really good. Here are the highlights —

- SERVICE
We did a bunch of service last week. One of the things we did was break huge rocks with a sledgehammer. Since I am always the biggest person in the room, I was elected do the honors. It was legit so tiring. For like two hours, I just swung at rocks and by the end, I couldn't even lift my arms. We had to break them so that the next step could happen — other people could gather the broken pieces and fill holes where posts would be placed and cement would then be poured. After I had been working for a while, someone gave me a pair of glasses. That turned out to be a huge blessing because the next time I took a swing, a huge chunk of rock came shooting at my eye. Would've hit it for sure if I wasn't wearing the glasses.
We also helped a girl move her house. She had a 3 story house and only my comp and I showed up!! It took like two and a half hours to move everything and it absolutely sucked. But it was actually pretty cool moving the entire house!!

-PASTELS
A couple of p-days ago, Sister Zoran, a sister in our ward, invited all of us elders over to her house to teach us how to make pastels. This is the food Actopan is most famous for. Its like a calzone but stuffed with a variety of fillings. Some have hot dogs, others beans or beef & potatoes and others rice & milk. They were so good and surprisingly easy to make.

- TRANSFERS
I finally got transferred out of my area after 7 ½ months in Actopan!! I'm going to an area called Plazas!! It's in the same district as my first area but it's just nice to not be in Actopan anymore. My comps name is Elder Fuentes and he's super cool; it should be a good time. Also, just a side note  — when we had transfers, we asked a member to drive us to Pachuca. So the next morning, when he arrived, he just threw my suitcase on top of the car and started driving. He didn't tie anything down or put anything over them!! We were going like 80 mph for an hour and then when we got to the offices, they were still there. Still absolutely have no idea how it happened but God works miracles I guess.

- SUNDAY
My first Sunday in my new ward was really good. All the members are super cool and there's a bunch of people that come to church. But everyone arrived late because there was a crap-ton of traffic. No one knew why until prolly about the closing hymn when our bishop sent a message in the ward group chat!! Apparently someone had started a new taco restaurant and it was their opening day!! (The reason for all the traffic) They sold out in like 4 or 5 hours and then everyone started getting sick. Turns out they weren't selling the meat they advertised. They actually served dog meat. I'm pretty sure they got arrested cuz I haven't seen their restaurant open since then!!

Anyways, hope your week was as good as mine!

Love you all!!
