WEEK 59
This week was a really good week. It was pretty crazy. Here are the highlights —
- SERVICE
We did some service this week. We had to help a girl in our ward weed out her cornfields. They were the biggest weeds I've ever seen. They were like 2 or 3 feet taller than me. We were there for 3 hours with about 15 other members of our ward and only finished about ¼ of her field. So we are going back this Tuesday.

- TIANGUIS
Every Wednesday, there is a huge swap meet, or tianguis, in Actopan!! It's literally a few miles long. This past Wednesday it was pouring and then it started hailing. We were in a combi at the time it all started and my comp felt impressed to get out before we got to our stop. So we get out and start walking up the tianguis. By then, the water was up to my knees and the water and hail had basically destroyed all the shops. The street was angled downhill so when the rain came, it swept everything away in its path. There was a ton of miscellaneous items floating down this rushing stream of water. It was crazy. The next thing I knew, there was a lady running our direction screaming something at us and I look over and saw something or someone tumbling in the water, arms flailing and all. It was a little girl and the mom was yelling at us to save her. So I ran into the middle of the street and pulled the little girl up out of the water. Thankfully she was okay. I may have broken her collarbone as I pulled her out but at least she's okay.

- FRIDAY
We had Zone Conference on Friday and it was super good. It was a little long but I learned a lot. It was super cool to see the other missionaries. The best part was that afterwards, we got to stay longer because we got new phones! Our mission policy changed so that now every missionary has a phone, not just one for every companionship. And I got to talk to my mission dad, Elder Berquist, for a few hours.
- MONDAY
P-day was super fun. I got to play squash again and I finally beat the guy who beat me last time. He got super mad at me cuz I won and he's been playing for 18 years and I've played twice in my whole life. After squash, we went to a member's house to learn how to make pastes. It's basically a calzone with a Mexican twist. This is the food Hidalgo (that's the state I live in) is known for. It was actually super easy and tasted so good.
Anyways, hope your week was as good as mine!
Love you all!!
