WEEK 37

First week into transfers. Pretty great week. Here are some highlights —

- THE PEOPLE
Our area was divided and another companionship was assigned here. Unfortunately, the three people we had on date for baptism are in the other companionship's area now, but it's all good.  We got some people progressing. We are actually teaching three families, so that's really cool. None of them have dads which is actually pretty tough for them, but I guess that's just how it is in Mexico. We also got a few other individuals that are progressing super fast so that always makes the work feel more fulfilling.

- LATE NIGHT DETOUR
So we are teaching a girl named Sahari. All of her family are members except her. Not sure why she isn't baptized cuz she has a testimony and comes to church every week. On Thursday, we visited her and again, she didn't want to get baptized. We left kinda frustrated and then went to a few more lessons. Around 9:30, we got a ride home from some members. As we drove past a park, I saw an altercation between a man and a woman so I told the driver to stop the car. We got out and watched the woman slap this guy in the face. By the time we arrived, the man was about to hit her, but luckily I grabbed his hand before he made contact. Turns out the girl was Sahari and the guy was her boyfriend. He was absolutely wasted and so we left him passed out in the park and helped her get into the car. She was a mess as we drove home. Now we know why she wouldn't get baptized. We had one of those hard conversations (been having a lot of those lately) and she broke things off with him. Hopefully she can continue to make a few life changes so she can get baptized now.

- MEXICAN WATER
The next day, we were in the same town, when a group of guys called us over. It was a useless conversation. They kept offering us "Mexican water" (aka beer). They kept harassing us saying we thought we were too good for their "water." I told them we had to go. The one guy reached for my hand to pull me back so we couldn't leave, but he was wasted so I just hit his hand down. He got mad and threw his whole cup of beer on me. I really wanted to chuck my backpack or the box of Lucky Charms one of the members gave me at him, but we just walked off.
We also came across another guy on our way to lunch one day who was laying on the ground moaning in pain. Looked like he broke his wrist. We asked what happened. He was a construction worker who said he was standing on a ladder hammering something — with a beer in one hand and a hammer in the other. He lost his balance and started to fall but didn't want to drop his beer so he tried to catch his fall with just one hand. Friends, this is why we don't drink.

- SERVICE PROJECT
Earlier this week, we were contacting and knocking doors. There was a family working on their farm so we asked if they needed any help. They were just finishing so they asked us to come back the next morning at 7 am. We helped make some cow food: a combination of wheat and meat (hopefully not cow) and some vitamins crushed up. And now we are teaching the family!

Anyways, hope your week was as good as mine!

Love you all!!

Heard y'all have been having crazy weather back home. We had a little ourselves. It was hailing and some people made snowmen with it.

It was pouring here and the street flooded.
