WEEK 35

8 MONTHS!!! One third into my mission.  And bonus...this week was 100 X better than last week. Here are some highlights —

- NEW PEOPLE
We found three new families this week who are super ready to get baptized. One family wants us to set a date but they got a cranky old Mexican grandma they're living with who won't let them, so we just gotta wait for them to find their own house and then we can baptize them. The other two families were references from a member and they are super prepared to listen. They told us they are ready to get baptized and we haven't even had a lesson with either family, just a family home evening.

- INTERCAMBIOS
We had intercambios (exchanges) this week and they were really good. The elder that I had intercambios with said that my comp and I weren't working hard enough (he said that's why we had a rough one last week) so I worked him super hard during intercambios. He said he likes how hard I work but never wants to be my comp cuz he thought he was gonna die — we worked so hard. He also bought 7 boxes of Hot Tamales for 420 pesos which is stupidly expensive. There's a store here that sells American candy but is super overpriced. I've never bought anything from there but the other missionaries spend like 500 pesos every week on American candy.

- COMBI RIDE
There's one part of our area that is so far away that only one combi driver will drive there. This last time we went in his combi, he had American music playing. When I asked the driver about his music selection, he asked if I was American. Since both my comp and I are, he told us he would drive us as fast as we wanted. We declined his offer, but he wouldn't take no for an answer and drove us 100 mph there. It was crazy. Thought I was gonna die, but we got there ok.

Also, I didn't think this was really relevant, but my mom told me to add it. So people here just throw trash wherever they want. Literally it's everywhere. But then like every 2 or 3 weeks, they have someone come by and rake it to the side of the roads. Then someone else walks by and pours a bunch of gas on all of it. And then another person brings a lighter and lights it all up. So it's super cool driving by with just huge fires on both sides of the roads.

Anyways, hope your week was as good as mine.

Love you all!,
