WEEK 28

Well we didn't do much this week cuz my comp still doesn't like leaving the house, but I've only got 2 weeks left before transfers so it's gonna be alright. Still had some pretty great highlights —

- LESSONS
Our lessons went super well this week. I don't know what the deal is, but we had 45 lessons scheduled and ended up only having 15 actually happen.  But those were super cool. We put one person on date. Her name is Daniela and she is the daughter of Gonzalo, who we baptized a few months ago. We also want to to put at least one more person on date this week so hopefully that happens.

- FOOD
The food is always good and is usually the same so I don't got much to talk about here. But I did eat a lady's dog that died and she cooked it for us. She didn't tell us it was her dog until after we finished eating. Also, I ate chicken feet and it was really good. Kinda tough to eat though cuz it has so many bones. It tastes just like a hard boiled egg. Also, I ate a bunch of cake called rosca because it's what they eat for Three Kings Day.

- THREE KINGS DAY (EL DIA DE REYES)
Three Kings Day is the holiday when kids get their Christmas gifts. Loved seeing all the kids playing outside with their new toys. A few days later, some of the toys were broken cuz the parents got ripped off by a bunch of vendors in Mexico City. Also, it's a tradition to eat a cake called Rosca de Reyes (King's Cake) every Three Kings Day. The cake has a mini Jesus action figure in it and if you get the piece with Jesus inside, it's tradition that you have to buy everyone tamales. Well, I ate cake three times and got baby Jesus all three times. But it's cool cuz I'm leaving in two weeks but they got no clue.

- SPIRITUAL THOUGHT 
We went to a member's house for lunch and as usual, the sisters who are serving in our ward came as well. My comp was upset with the sisters for some reason, so when he was asked to share a spiritual thought, he read 1 Corinthians 14:34-35, which says: "Let your women keep silence in the churches; for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but they are commanded to be under obedience, as also saith the law. And if they will learn anything, let them ask their husbands at home; for it is a shame for women to speak in the church." Needless to say, the mom got super offended and we aren't allowed back in the home, only the sisters. The family didn't even show up to church on Sunday.

Knocking doors

There's a small soccer field by our new place. We decided to stop and watch the end of a game on our way home one night. The ref called a foul in the box and then the player made the PK. As soon as the ref blew the whistle to end the game, he sprinted off the field. I didn't understand why, but then the whole losing team ran after him and when they caught up to him, they started taking swings and beating him up. The winning team had to run over and stop the fight. Crazy. 
Mexico takes their soccer seriously.

WEEK 96

Alright, Imma start this week off complaining and then I'll get to the good parts — - WATER, POWER & GAS Monday-Wednesday, we had absolutely no water in our house. We had to shower with water bottles and honestly, it felt pretty weird. Once we finally got water, then we lost gas. It's so freakin' cold here in the mornings and it was so much worse with freezing cold water. Luckily by Friday, we had gas. On Thursday, we lost power, so we went without any electricity for 2 days and it kinda sucked cuz there was no where to charge our phones. Then on Saturday and Sunday, we got to watch general conference. We don't have a church here so one sister gave us her tv and another, their computer. We used our hot spot to put on general conference and right after the last session, we lost the last bit of our data. We used so much data streaming general conference and now we got no data for 2 more weeks. There's not a single member here with wifi so now we gotta go 2 weeks w...

WEEK 80

Had a great week! Here are the highlights — - ZONE CONFERENCE We had our Christmas Zone Conference. It was the best zone conference I've been to. They had a Christmas program so we heard a bunch of Christmas stories and sang a bunch of songs. After, we played a bunch of games and broke a piñata. We had secret santas and I got a poncho that I now wear to bed every night cuz it's freakin cold here! Our mission president gave everyone gifts and then I got some from my parents. - NAVIDAD It was super cool to spend my last Christmas here in Mexico. I was in a trio so it felt kinda weird but it was super fun! We honestly did nothing for Christmas day but Christmas Eve, we went to a member's house and played a bunch of soccer. Then  I had to check in with all the companionships in my zone, but after, we had pasole! We finished by playing one of the most intense games of Uno I have ever played. WEEK 14

I reached a milestone this week...3 months as a missionary. Here are some of the highlights —  - SERVICE This week we had another service project. This lady wants to start a garden in her backyard, but first we needed to clean it out. It had bushes and long grass covering the entire space. Also, there were probably 1000 grasshoppers. Every plant or blade of grass we pulled had at least a few on them. There were tons of spiders and other insects. We spent two hours just pulling bushes and grass and got about ¾ of the way done with her backyard. We are going back on Tuesday to finish the backyard and to do the front yard. After we were done, we stayed for lunch and the lady gave us soggy pig skin to eat. The sisters hated it. I wasn't a fan either but the sisters would just throw their food onto our plates when the lady wasn't looking so we ended up having to eat far more than our share. - GENERAL CONFERENCE General conference was so good this week.
