WEEK 7
First week in the field! Here are some of my favorites —
- MY COMPANION
My companion, Elder Berquist, is so cool. He's from Utah so he likes a lot of the same stuff I do. We speak in Spanish during the day, but then at night, when we are in bed, we talk for like an hour or so about stuff back home. It's so cool cuz I feel like I'm at home again. He's also super understanding and helps me learn Spanish — so that's cool. Sometimes it's hard talking Spanish to him cuz I know that he speaks English, but I try my best.

- THE PEOPLE
The people here are way better than in California. Every person here is so nice. They all like missionaries — so that's cool. Like 2 days ago, we were on our way to a lesson when they cancelled on us so we started knocking doors. And it just started pouring. We didn't have jackets. Luckily, this random family invited us in and gave us food. They tried to get us to drink, which isn't good, but it was nice that they gave us food. Everyone on the street is so nice and they always say hi to us.

- THE FOOD
The food has been so good. Everyday we get fed lunch by members and they always give us tacos and soup. One time this week, we went to a house of all guys and they bought 2 buckets of KFC — so that was actually pretty cool. It was my first time having KFC. Then for breakfast we have cereal, or eggs, or oatmeal — which is really good. We usually have the same thing for dinner. But there's a taco stand right outside our apartment so we'll probably get that a lot.

- THE SPANISH
Spanish is easily the hardest part of my mission. I have definitely gotten better but it is still so hard. I can talk to my companion and give small lessons, but I still can't talk to anyone in the field yet. It's definitely the most frustrating thing I've had to do, but I know God's helping me and as long as I do my part, He'll do his.

Hope your week was as good as mine! Love you all!

Me and my companion, Elder Berquist
This is where I spend a lot of my time. Language study. Personal study. Companion study. You get the point.
We helped at our ward's young men/young women activity this week. Had to help them hold to the iron rod and get to the tree of life.
